Librarians
If you need research assistance and are in the library, you can receive help
by going to a reference desk and discussing your topic with a reference
librarian. Librarians are available to assist you in the following areas of the library:
- Reference Services (Library Addition 1st floor)
For assistance with research in the social sciences, business, education, the humanities, the arts, life, health, physical, and mathematical sciences, and engineering. Also for assistance in finding and using publications from the United States government, the State of California, and the United Nations, plus all maps
- Special Collections / University Archives (Library Addition 4th floor)
For assistance with research related to the history of San Diego, San Diego State University, and special collections held by the library.
- Live chat help from an SDSU
Librarian Use this chat reference service any time you're stuck
with your research or with a database or web search.
To find out if the library has a particular book, magazine, journal, or
newspaper, or for answers to basic information or reference questions, you
may call the Reference Services at (619) 594-6728, press #0. You
may also call another unit in the library directly. Telephone numbers can
be found using Phone/Email Directory.
Librarians in the SDSU Library can assist with some research questions using
e-mail. You have two options: live chat help or email. Use the live
chat help to chat with a librarian about your research, a database search,
or a web search. Use the Electronic
Reference form and a research librarian will either contact you with the
answer or will provide you with strategies for finding the answer to your question.
You may communicate with librarians by contacting them directly. Select from this index arranged alphabetically by librarian's name, or from the list of librarians by subject specialty.
