Finding Books

Books can be located in the PAC library catalog under such subject headings as GEOLOGY; GEOPHYSICS, PETROLOGY, etc. Specific locations are found as subheadings under GEOLOGY. For example, to find information on the Poway area, you would look under the heading GEOLOGY--CALIFORNIA--SAN DIEGO COUNTY. A complete list of related and more specific headings can be found in the Library of Congress Subject Headings located at the reference desk. A science reference librarian can assist you in locating other geology resources in the library

If a copy of the Library of Congress Subject Headings is unavailable then try the following technique. First search your term(s) using the WORD command on the PAC. When you retrieve a title that looks reasonable, display the full record and look at its subject headings.

All SDSU master theses and senior reports are in the Science Reference Collection. Theses from SDSU may be found by looking under the subjects heading SDSU THESIS-GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES; senior reports from SDSU may be found by looking under the title UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH REPORTS.
