Engineering Web Resources
This web site is designed to complement the engineering curricula at San Diego State
University. It focuses on the information needs of the undergraduate student, but the
resources included may be useful to graduate students, faculty, and practicing engineers.
- Clearinghouse for Decision Case Education
Its environmental studies component is of interest to engineering students. The catalog of abstracts may be searched by title, topic, and/or key words. The cases are not included but may be ordered from this site.
- Engineering Case Studies
A collection of actual engineering projects. Describes over 250 cases and can be searched by subject classification.
- Engineering Disasters
Has detailed discussion of what engineering failure is and the role of ethics in engineering. Contains links to web sites concerning disasters: Shuttle Challenger, Cruiseship Estonia, Chernobyl, etc. Includes a short bibliography.
- Numerical Ethics Cases
A web site containing engineering ethics cases with numerical problems. Any of the cases may be incorporated in the teaching material for undergraduate engineering courses. The cases cover chemical, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering.

The Swedish electronic library, designed for technical universities and covering quality assessed information.
- EEVL - Edinburgh Engineering Virtual Library
- Galaxy
Provides a very wide coverage of engineering and technology. Some of the areas included are manufacturing, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, design methodologies, human factors, mechanical and electrical engineering. Has directories, periodicals, events, and different kinds of organizations.

A project by Graduate Schools of Engineering and industry in Oregon. Intends to make engineering and related information available to academia and various industries.

- Annual Reviews Index
A searchable database covering the period from 1984 to the present. Indexes Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics, Annual Review of Biophysics and Bioengineering, and Annual Review of Materials Science.
- Energy Citations Database
Includes bibliographic information for reports from the Department of Energy, the Energy Research & Development Administration and the Atomic Energy Commission. Records are available since 1948 to the present. Subject areas covered are materials, environment, engineering chemistry, etc.Cites reports, papers, articles, books, dissertations, and patents.

Presents searchable engineering catalogs. Can specify desired properties of an object and retreive a list of vendor links.

A database of engineering images (structures and various designs). Each photograph is accompanied by a brief description. Subject and title search is available.

Covers scholarly journals from 1990 to the present. Not exclusively engineering oriented but is strong in indexing technology materials. Good for research, but SDSU Library does not have many of the journals indexed. Provides bibliograhic access to all ASCE publications since 1973. It may be searched by keyword and author. Includes a "Keyword List" of relevant terms.
- Earthquake Engineering Abstracts (EEA)
Quick and easy access to publications (technical reports, conference papers, books, and articles) about earthquakes and earthquake engineering since 1971. Searches provide a bibliography and an abstract with each item listed. Material not available in the SDSU Library can be loaned from the EERC Library.
- EiCompendex Web
Electronic version of the printed Engineering Index; also known as Compendex. Indexes scholarly and research oriented journals, conference proceedings, technical reports, but excludes patents.
- NTIS (National Technical Information Service)
A large collection of scientific, engineering, technical and related information covering the years 1990 to the present. Some documents are fulltext online.
- ProQuest Research Library (full-text)
Includes indexed articles from professional engineering and trade journals. Selecting the research and science core modules eliminates searching the news databases. Has full-text articles and others with citations and anstracts.
- Calculators
Includes a units conversion program and tools for piping (friction, water, heating) and electrical (voltage drop, motor sizing, etc.) calculation problems.
- Composite Materials Handbook
Authoritative source of data on current composites for the purpose of testing, analysis, and formulation of development and usage guidelines. Intents to standardize development methodologies, testing, and properties.

Lists engineering and technology bibliographies of resources by discipline.
- Dictionary of Abbreviations and Acronyms...
Lists acronymas and abbreviations concerning geographic information systems, cartography, and remote sensing.

Lists 521 journals alphabetically by title. For each entry gives ISSN number, publisher, title page of journal, tables of contents, and links to document delivery services. It also includes home pages.
- EPA Toxics factsheets
Data sheets for the chemicals include name, CAS number, DOT number, hazard summary, and identification. Gives reasons for inclusion in the database, how to determine exposure, exposure limits, and health effects. Medical testing, protective equipment, handling and storage, first aid measures, physical data, and environmental information are also listed.

- NACA Publications
Includes full text of NACA reports, technical notes, and technical memoranda. Citations can be searched by keywords.
- NASA LaRC Technical Library
Contains technical reports, preprints and abstracts in aeronautics, astronomy and astrophysics, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, nonlinear science and physics.
- NASA LTRS - Langley Technical Reports Server
Includes technical memoranda(TM), conference papers, journal articles, and formal reports. Keyword searching and retrieval of the full text of reports are available.
