ChemFinder
Is a webserver that finds information faster than any other. It recognizes obvious spelling errors or an invalid registry number (RN). It is a chemical database which provides chemical information.Therefore ChemFinder can be searched by name, formula, registry number, and molecular weight. Gives melting, boiling and flash points, specific gravity, vapor density, solubility, and other data. The database receives new information constantly. Includes a glossary and an extensive list of websites that this server indexes.

Constants

Conversion Buddy
A program for Windows 3.1 environment. Designed to convert units of measurement from one system to another. One has to ftp to the site; the files may be opened or saved to a disk. In any case, the program needs to be installed and extracted before use. It is easy; includes a tutorial; and is freeware.

Conversion of Units
Provides means for converting units including conversion of temperatures and currency.

Fundamental Physical Constants
A list of constants, such as Planck, Boltzmann, Avogadro number, etc., with values given. Text in English and German.

Metric Measurement
Provides the conversion relationship and procedures between U.S. and the SI units. Explains how the factors are used. Covers area, force, length, mass, power, wire, etc.

Dictionary of Units
A summary of units used throughout the world. Includes also some historical units. Gives conversion factors needed to change into SI.

Scientific Constants
A Yahoo compilation of web pages for finding scientific constants, equations and conversion factors.

Data

Atomic Weights Of The Elements
Elements are listed by atomic number. Symbol, name, and atomic weights are given. Information is based on 1995 data prepared by G.P. Moss. Pure Appl. Chem., 68, 2339-2359 (1996).

WebElements
A periodic table that includes detailed data for each element. Includes a section on the nomenclature of the heavy elements, links to other periodic table sites and other data. In addition to chemical information, it leads to physical, electronic, biological, geological, etc. data for each element.

Dictionaries and Encyclopedias

Colour Science Glossary
Compiled by the Colour Research Group at the University of Derby. It contains information on brightness, calibration, luminance, radiant flux, and many more concepts.

Educational Documents
An alpahabetical list and description of chemical concepts developed by the Science Hypermedia, Inc. Covers general and analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, optics, and electronics. Discusses the major aspects of each topic and, when appropriate, contains links to related subjects.

Encyclopedia of Analytical Instrumentation
Covers diffraction methods, electrochemistry, mass spectrometry, separations, spectroscopy, standards, and thermal methods. Includes books, journals, and software and lists analytical chemistry graduate programs.

Dictionaries and Encyclopedia
A list of online reference sources that describe various areas and concepts of chemistry. Covers chromatography, computing, semiconductors, instrumental methods, electrochemistry. Has links to lists of abbreviations, acronyms, etc. A number of these resources had been created for this web page.

MSDS

Material Safety Data Sheets
An alphabetical listing of chemicals. Provides product identification(name and synonyms; formula and weight; registry number). Gives hazard information, physical and reactivity data and storage and handling information. A disclaimer is included.

NWFSC MSDS
Gives access to safety data and allows searching for information through MSDS located at the University of Utah and Vermont's SIRI database. Contains additional links to hazardous material handling.

Periodic Table

ChemGlobe
A user-friendly periodic table of elements. By clicking on an element within the table, users get details on physical data, isotopes, and background information for each element. Physical data includes electronic, thermal, and steric data.

Chemicool Periodic Table
Identifies the resources from which the included data was taken. Provides the following information: atomic numbers, density, states, energies, oxidation and electrons, characteristics, reactions, conductivity. Includes links to other web pages and two online chemistry calculators (unit conversion and ideal gas law).

Los Alamos National Laboratory
Has a periodic table in which each family of elements is represented by a specific color for easy identification. For each element gives appropriate information. Includes a list of websites that have a periodic table. Contains a link to an article describing the process of naming elements. The link CST (Chemical Science and Technology division) links to the division's homepage which connects to sites concerning the group, its members, and its work.

e-Journals

Chemistry and Industry
An online journal that presents different aspects of the application of chemistry. Contains excerpts from the published version, which contains more material. The electronic issues present news items, job advertisements, archives, advertisements, a forum and a diary.

Discover
General science periodical including pertinent and scholarly information for undergraduates. Discusses latest discoveries; has list of books; etc. Also includes longer articles on diverse subjects.

Nature
Covers all the sciences. Contains review articles, original research, and first breakthroughs. Has book and new product reviews, etc.

Science
Reports on current events and findings. Reviews new developments; presents research articles, technical and some general articles. Has book reviews, news briefs, information on companies, etc.

Scientific American
Covers a broad range of sciences and technology. Presents new developments, new drugs, computer technology, and past discoveries.

List of Toxic Compounds
When applicable, this site for each chemical includes hazard summary, identification, reasons for inclusion, effects, medical testing, protective equipment, handling and storage, and first aid.

Tutorials

Analytical Chemistry Basics
Discusses the fundamental concepts of analytical chemistry: equilibrium, gravimetric analysis, titration, spectroscopy, and separation methods. Additional links lead to remedial material and related topics.

Atoms and Elements
One of the few online resources that deal with the theory of atoms. Covers atoms and their structure, isotopes, and the Periodic Table. Includes links to interrelated topics. It contains a discussion about and links to certain chlorine compounds and their harmful effects in the environment.

Chemical Reactions
This page covers in general and in detail equations, acid-base, gas-forming, and oxidation-reduction reactions. It also discusses aspects of aqueous solution.

Equilibrium Practice Problems
Reviews appropriate, basic chemical concepts. Discusses the solution to equilibrium problems, and weak acids and bases. Plans are to include gas-phase equilibria and and precipitation equilibria. Sample problems help the user to understand the concepts included.

Matter and Measurement
Lists and discusses main concepts such as physical properties, elements and atoms of matter. Includes explanation of the units of measurement and has appropriate links to both of these sections.

Molecules and Compounds
Covers elements existing as molecules; molecular compounds and ionic compounds. Links to a web site which calculates molecular mass.

Chemical Information Sources from Indiana University
A comprehensive chemistry web site. It is a tool for learning to find chemical information on the Internet. It also is an aid in learning how to use this information.

Cheminfo
A San Diego State University web site designed to answer frequently asked, specific chemistry related questions. Topics like nomenclature, properties and identification of compounds, toxicity, etc. are discussed. Resources listed are located in the university library.
