California Institute for Peruvian Studies: Archaeological Textile Studies(Arequipa, Peru - June 21 - July 3, 2010) - learn to identify, analyze and document the features of ancient textiles (fiber, spin and ply structure, weave structure, iconography, and various other
>techniques) by examining archaeological textiles from various sites in Peru and by learning how to spin and weave the Andean way. The course includes lectures on the art and archaeology of pre-Columbian Andean cultures and how they persist in modern textiles, as well as basic training in textile field conservation. A week's tour of South Coast sites and museums as well as another week of highland travel can be added for additional fees.

Cotsen Institute of Archaeology Postdoctoral Fellowship (UCLA - September 1, 2008 - August 31, 2010) - 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship; intended to give promising scholars the opportunity to pursue their own research and at the same time interact with a large and diverse group of faculty, graduate students, and affiliated researchers with a wide range of theoretical and methodological specialties. Application deadline: February 1, 2008. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one course each Spring Quarter, its subject to be determined on the basis of his or her research interests and departmental needs. Additionally, the candidate will give one lecture each quarter, either to the Institute affiliates or the general public. The total support package is $38,000 for each academic year (term of residence September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2010) plus medical benefits, access to UCLA campus resources, and a travel allowance for one conference airfare and one research-related airfare each year (up to $1500.00/ year). Archaeological Institute of America's Site Preservation Grant Program, - the AIA will now share the responsibility for safeguarding the world’s archaeological heritage by supporting the conservation of ancient monuments and the preparation of management plans for long-term maintenance of the cultural and physical landscapes of sites. Applications will be considered on a semiannual basis by a committee appointed by the AIA. The deadlines are October 1 and April 1, and grants will normally be awarded in the range of $25K-$75K. World Archaeology - only journal established specifically to deal with archaeology on a world-wide multiperiod basis. Thirty years after it was founded it remains the leader in its field. The first three of the year's quarterly issues are each dedicated to a particular theme of current interest. The fourth issue, Debates in World Archaeology, is a forum for debate, discussion and comment.
