Finding books

General tips and LC headings

The PAC is the online tool used for finding books and reports in the SDSU Library. Books can be searched by author, title, or subject.

The subject heading Graphic arts is generally the most helpful term. More specific headings are available, such as

Finding articles

The major art databases are the best place to look for articles on graphic design, particularly if you need scholarly sources.

Interdisciplinary databases will cover magazines, trade publications, and newspapers, with some coverage of scholarly journals.

Images

When searching for digital images, keep in mind the importance of a high resolution image. A resource like ARTstor, for instance, contains high quality images, with valuable information about the image itself.
