Filmed from the holdings of the National Archives, this is a record of the special mission of Captain Oliver Hazard Perry, USN, to visit Angostura (Ciudad Bolivar) to informally convey the good wishes of the U.S. Government to the revolutionary government of Venezuela. The journal contains a narrative of the voyage, the proceedings at Angostura and a description of Venezuela. Included are sketches of twenty-two revolutionary leaders, remarks concerning the defenses, commerce and Venezuelan government as well as some correspondence.
