Government Publications Microfilm Collections: Introduction
| Table of Contents | Subject Index | Title Index |
The microfilm collection housed in the Government Publications & Maps Division spans a wide range of topics. The documents and records reproduced in these sets provide a rich source of primary materials for both students and scholars in the fields of history, political science, and ethnic studies.
This guide is a comprehensive bibliography and is arranged by 9 broad categories:
- African American Studies
- American History-Agencies
- American History-Individuals
- Area Studies
- International Relations
- Mexican American Studies
- Military and Naval History
- Native American Studies
- Radical Studies
The microfilm sets are listed once in their primary category. To identify topics that may be represented in more than one category, use the subject index. A title index is also available.
Each entry is numbered and includes a full bibliographic citation, a description of the types of documents included, and the call number. The availability of a guide or index is noted in the call number. A "guide" is a simple listing of documents in the order they appear on the reel of film. The notation of an "index" indicates that subject, title, or other access is available for the documents contained in the set.
All of the microfilm collections are in call number order in the Government Publications Microform area on the 3rd floor of Love Library. The guides and indexes that accompany the sets are located in the Government Publications Reference Area in call number order.
Several microfilm readers and a microfilm reader/printer are available in the Government Publications Microform area. Additional microfilm reader/printers are located in the Current Periodicals and Microforms Center, 1st floor Love Library. Paper copies are .10/page.
