SDSU Library
To search for books in the SDSU library, use the PAC.
When searching by subject, keep in mind that the Library of Congress subject
heading for cinema/movies/film is motion pictures. If you search
the subject motion pictures, the PAC will display over 500 subtopics
and almost 200 related subjects for you to browse. If you are interested
in videocassettes of particular films, type the title of the film in the
title field. For additional help using the PAC to find materials, please
consult a reference librarian.
UCLA Film and Television Archive
Containing over 200,000 films and television programs,
and 27 million feet of newsreel footage, this is the largest university-held
moving image archive in the world. These items are available to the public
via screenings, research facilities, and licensing as stock footage for
professional productions.
Public Motion Picture Research Centers and Film Archives
This Library of Congress internet resource page provides
links to over 100 film libraries and archives around the world.
Early Motion Pictures: 1897-1916
Sponsored by the Motion
Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division of the Library of
Congress. "The films included in the current American Memory offering consist,
for the most part, of actuality footage. They record scenes and activities
that, taken together, sketch portraits of New York City and San Francisco
at the turn of the century, depict events and exhibits at the 1901 WorldĖs
Fair in Buffalo, New York, and record the inauguration and funeral of President
William McKinley. Films in these collections are viewable via the web with
QuickTime, MPEG, or AVI players. You can search the collections by keyword,
browse the subject index, or list film titles. Bibliographies, related
articles, and technical notes are available.
