American Housing Survey for the San Diego Metropolitan Area.
In-depth statistical analysis of housing characteristics for San Diego as a whole. Includes data on apartments, single-family homes, mobile homes; age, sex and race of householders; income; housing and neighborhood quality; size of housing units; repairs and mortgages; and reasons for moving.

Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber's web site provides a good overview of the San Diego area. It provides information on population, manufacturing, the military, tourism, construction, and more. Much of the information is available as Microsoft PowerPoint slides.

CASH: Continuing Analysis of Shopping Habits in San Diego.

Produced by the San Diego Union-Tribune, this annual study provides retail product performance in San Diego, including market share. It also includes a demographic profile for product purchasers.

Crime in the San Diego Region.

Produced by SANDAG, this annual report presents crime trends for the entire county and individual jurisdictions. Statistics include crime by type and jurisdiction, population in detention facilities, and drug use among arrestees.

Economic Bulletin.

In each monthly issue, this publication from the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce examines regional economic, business, or demographic information relating to San Diego's economy. Topics covered have included the defense industry, tourism, housing, and salaries. Near or at the end of each issue is a page providing core economic indicators for San Diego. Occupational Outlook : San Diego County.

Arranged by occupation and based on a survey of San Diego companies, this gives profiles, average salaries and benefits, and forecasts for 36 occupations.

San Diego Marketbook, 2000.

Published by the Union-Tribune, this provides a brief overview of the San Diego region. The most important feature is the statistical information by zip code. This includes household information with forecasts, consumer spending, population, race, and age.

Statistics compiled by the San Diego Daily Transcript include the census, economy, real estate, growth, opportunities, etc.

University of San Diego's Index of Leading Economic Indicators for San Diego County.

Monthly reporting of various economic indicators for all of San Diego County. Includes building permits, stock price index, tourism activity index, and the index of help wanted advertising.

California County Projections.

Another publication from CCSCE, this contains forecasts of county growth in population, households, household income, personal income, and retail sales. Forecasts are to 2005.

California Economic Growth.

Published by the Center for the Continuing Study of the California Economy (CCSCE), this overview covers the California economy in detail and has a significant section on the San Diego economy. The focus of the San Diego section is on the region's economic base, employment, income, retail sales, and construction. Includes forecasts.

California Retail Survey.

This is a comprehensive review of retail sales activity and performance in every county and city in California. It includes reports by geographic area and by retail sector, and performance rankings for cities and counties.

County Business Patterns: California.

Provides employment figures, payroll, and number of firms/establishments by industry (broken down by numbers of employees) for counties in California.

Taxable Sales in California (Sales & Use Tax).

These quarterly and annual reports give retail sales activity in California as measured by transactions subject to sales and use taxation. Data includes sales totals for broad types of businesses, sales totals by county, and then more detailed sales totals by businesses for counties and cities.

ACCRA Cost of Living Index.

ACCRA publishes this quarterly to provide a useful and reasonably accurate measure of cost of living differences between urban areas, including San Diego, and the U.S. as a whole. Information is given in index and raw price data form.

CPI Detailed Report.
L 2.38/3: GOVT PUBS
In the January and July issues, this gives semi-annual Consumer Price Index - Urban Consumer data for selected areas including San Diego. CPI is given for expenditure, commodity and service groups, including food, beverages, housing, fuel, apparel, transportation, medical care and entertainment.

Demographics USA County Edition.

Data at the county and DMA (Designated Market Area) level is given for households, population, retail expenditures by line of merchandise, employment, effective buying income, buying power index, and consumer spending. 5 year forecasts are given for many of these.

Geographic Reference Report.

The purpose of this report is to provide city-to-city data to assist with human resource management decisions. Each city's single page overview provides employment by industry group, major area employers, unemployment, average per diem allowances, cost of living, and estimates of annual median salaries for a variety of jobs.

Lifestyle Market Analyst.

Information for DMAs only. Gives similar information as Lifestyle Zip Code Analyst, but also includes comparisons of DMAs to rest of the U.S. Also correlates each activity or hobby with the other activities and hobbies. Correlates demographic information as well.

U.S. Housing Markets.

This quarterly publication presents a thorough analysis of major housing markets in the U.S. including San Diego. The focus is on housing permits by type of dwelling, multifamily construction completions, vacancy rates, employment trends, and trends in existing home sales.
