Subject Guide for Company Information
Answering some of the following questions early in the research process
will help to focus your search and ensure that adequate information is available
for your company.
- Is your company public or private?
- What is your company's ticker symbol if they are publicly traded?
- Are they a subsidiary, division or a branch of another company?
- What is your company's SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) or NAICS
(North American Industrial Classification System) code?
If you begin your search in one of the following directories you will generally
be able to obtain answers to the above questions fairly quickly.

focuses on your company rather than simply mentioning them.

on these topics, for example: within ABI/Inform enter the Subject Heading
Market Shares or Ratings & rankings and in the
Business & Industry Database select the Concept Code for
Market Share. In full-text databases that allow proximity
searching using operators such as NEAR or WITHIN, put them to work finding
phrases such as "33% share of the european automotive
