License agreements

San Diego State University Library has signed license agreements with the vendors of our electronic resources in order to make these available to faculty, staff, students and on-site users. The terms and conditions of these agreements stipulate that the use of these resources is limited to SDSU faculty, staff and students and is to be used for educational or research purposes only. Our ability to continue to subscribe to these resources is dependent upon adherence to these terms and conditions. They include but are not limited to restrictions on copying, republishing, altering, redistributing and reselling the information contained in electronic resources.

Remote access to databases

Everybody may use library databases while they are located on the San Diego State University and Imperial Valley Campuses. However, our license agreements restrict off-campus access to databases as follows.

  • Access to off campus use is ID-based, and is generally restricted to currently enrolled SDSU students and currently employed SDSU faculty and staff. Records for current students and employees are entered automatically in the library's patron database.

  • Adjunct faculty and SDSU Foundation employees will need to complete a registration form at the Circulation Desk before remote access will be available to them.

  • Holders of research affiliate, or guest, library ID cards are contractually excluded from remote access to most online periodical indexes and databases.

  • Please contact the Circulation Desk at (619) 594-6793 if you have questions about the status of your SDSU affiliation.

If you are affiliated with SDSU, you may use all of our databases (unless otherwise noted) from any Internet connection. If you are off-campus, you will be prompted for your name (as it appears on your SDSU ID card), Red ID, and Library PIN, and will then be passed to the database.
