The Friends of the SDSU Library

By Raymond Starr
|
Sponsored by the Friends of the Malcolm A. Love Library, this first and
only comprehensive history of the largest campus in the California State
University system was originally conceived as a history through
photographs by the late John Adams, whose generosity has made possible
this publication. The work was subsequently expanded to become a
full-scale history of the University. Separate chapters cover the
founding of the institution in the 1890s in downtown San Diego, later
transfer to its Park Avenue site, then another relocation to Montezuma
mesa, among others.
San Diego State University: A History in Word and
Image Underscores the centrality of the university both to the local
community and as a key player in national and international intellectual
debates. Includes some 400 photographic reproductions. 280 pages. |
