Professional Background and Activities

I am currently the subject bibliographer for Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics. My special areas of interest are ecology and marine biology. I am also interested in all areas of library automation, including the use of the World Wide Web to deliver information. However I also believe that the "library world as we know it" is not going to disappear overnight. The student or researcher who ignores either print or electronic resources will do so at the peril of a restricted viewpoint. I have been a member of the SDSU faculty since 1982.

Activities

Library and Information Access: I am part of the three person team responsible for implementing and maintaining the SFX system. I am a member of the Library Council and the Library Faculty Policy File Committee.

University:I am a University Senator for the Library and Information Access (2005-2008). I serve as the chair of the Committee on Committees and Elections.

Professional: I am the past secretary (2003-2005) of the Biomedical and Life Sciences Division of the Special Libraries Association and the treasurer (2002-2007) of local San Diego Chapter. I am a member of the Program Committee of SEAL (Science and Engineering Academic Librarians), a special interest group of CARL (California Academic and Research Libraries).
