Strategic Goal: Develop new collection paradigms, including open access and digital initiatives
Task force charge: As the primary provider of information resources on our campus, we must acquire, manage, preserve, and support comprehensive access to scholarly materials in all formats, subjects and languages. As the campus moves to increase research activity in all areas of the university, we will build outstanding, highly accessible collections that are tailored to faculty and student needs. This group will focus on new collection paradigms, including open access and digital initiatives as we collect and preserve the resources needed to support the university's increased focus on research and graduate education and to enhance and expand scholarly communication. This strategic planning team will recommend ways to increase technical expertise, advance our work in digital library development and to make our unique and rare collections more available to the scholarly community. This group's recommendations will also include strategies for enhancing and expanding our scholarly resources through the use of technological applications, as well as improved collecting and preservation practices. They will also explore funding opportunities for new strategies.
Task force members: Jennifer Anderson, Ellie Dworak, Marilyn Hall, Melissa Lamont, Darlene Nowak, Linda Salem (convener), Steve Savage and Nicole Shibata
