Robert Fikes, reference librarian, in connection with Memorial Day 2007, was interviewed on May 23, 2007, on the KPBS
radio show These Days concerning persons listed on the university's War Monument. On August 23, 2007, he received the SDSU
Alumni Association's Outstanding Faculty Contributions Award (Monty). He published "U.S. Blacks' Perceptions, Experiences, and
Scholarship Regarding Central and South AmericaŃ1822 to 1959," in Negro Educational Review 57, Fall/Winter 2006; "Postscript to 'The
Triumph of Robert T. Browne: The Mystery of Space'" in the American Philosophical Association's Philosophy and the Black
Experience newsletter 6, Spring 2007; and "Nathan A. Scott, Jr. (1925-2006)," in Callaloo 30, Winter 2007.
Pamela Jackson, information literacy librarian, published an article titled "Integrating Information Literacy into
Blackboard: Building Campus Partnerships for Successful Student Learning" in the Journal of Academic Librarianship 33 (4), July 2007.
She also presented a session titled "Meeting the Educational Expectations of 21st Century Digital Learners: Multimedia Podcasting
in an Academic Library" at the EDUCAUSE Western Regional Conference in San Francisco on May 8, 2007.
Julie Su, head of Serials, authored a chapter on serials management for the book
Theory and Practice of 21st Century Academic Librarianship in the United States of America, which was published by Beijing
Library Press in June 2007.
