New Friends President: Estelle Milch
Estelle Milch brings a background rich in educational and community experiences to her post as president of the
Friends of the SDSU Library. She also has a long-time love of books and learning, assets for anyone
involved with a university library.
"From the time I spent summers in the Chula Vista library as a child until today, libraries have
held a world of magic and discovery for me. My desire and curiosity to learn and grow are always
fed by library time," Milch said.

Milch is a graduate of Chula Vista High School and attended the University of Southern California.
She completed her undergraduate degree at SDSU, graduating with high honors in speech arts.
Following college, she worked for a year at Children's Hospital as a speech therapist and
then was employed for 20 years at the Institute for Health Maintenance, where she
taught classes on how to develop a healthy lifestyle.
Community activities have long been an important part of Milch's life. She is the past president
of the Wednesday Club, a former provisional chairman of the Junior League of San Diego, and a
former secretary of the Art Council of the San Diego Historical Society. She also served on the
Historic Site Board and the board of the San Diego Historical Society.
Milch believes that the Friends of the SDSU Library act as ambassadors for the library, enabling
the community to learn more about and appreciate the many resources and unique items the library has
available. "I think the Friends of the Library brings together a group of people who hold this
passion for libraries and gives us a unique opportunity to support SDSU's Library in a multitude of ways," Milch said.
