gave a talk on "Creating a Women's History Community on the
Web" at the Berkshires Conference on the History of Women last
July.
Robert Fikes,
Jr., Reference Librarian, published "African-American Scholars
of Greco-Roman Culture," in The Journal of Blacks in Higher
Education (35), Spring 2002, and a review of Civil War Medicine:
Challenges and Triumphs, by Alfred Jay Bollet, in the Journal of
the National Medical Association (94), June 2002. He also was interviewed
and quoted in the April 17-23 edition of The Village Voice.

Harkányi, Reference Librarian, published "Current
Bibliography in the History of Technology (1999)," in Technology
and Culture (43), Supplement 2000. She also served as a subject
and senior subject advisor for The Best Books for Academic Libraries:
Science, Technology and Agriculture, vol. 1. Temecula, Calif.: The

Knobloch and Bruce Harley, Government Publications Librarians,
published "Quipu, a Vortal Dedicated to Researchers of Andean
Archaeology," in The New Review of Information Networking (7),
2001.
Martha McPhail,
Catalog Librarian, is serving as chair-elect of the Museums, Arts,
and Humanities Division of the Special Libraries Association.
Kathryn
Neal, Manuscripts and Archives Librarian, was appointed to the
Society of American Archivists' Program Committee for the 2003 annual
conference.
Natalie
Pastor, Library Graphic Artist & Instructional Resource
Facilitator, received her certificate in Instructional Technology
from SDSU's Department of Educational Technology in June.
Gloria
Rhodes, Outreach/Community Resources Librarian, presented a
paper titled "Outreach-K-12 and Beyond: A Tale of Two Campuses,"
at the American Library Association's 2002 annual conference. She
is also serving on the American Library Association's Young Adult
Library Services committee and its Outstanding Books for the College
Bound and Lifelong Learners Committee, as well as the ACRL Appointments
Committee.
Julie Su,
Digital Resources/Serial Librarian, taught a two-day electronic
serials cataloging workshop for the Serials Cataloging Cooperative
Training Program (SCCTP) last July in China, which was the first
SCCTP e-serials workshop given outside of the United States.
Patrick
Sullivan, Business Reference Librarian, and Laura Hudson,
Electronic Systems and Services Librarian, received a CSU Community
of Academic Technology Staff Technology Integration Grant for Educational
Resource Sharing to explore current and potential library use of
MERLOT (the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online
Teaching). Patrick also organized and presented a pre-conference
titled "Tutorial on Tutorials" at the annual California
Academic and Research Libraries (CARL) Conference held at Asilomar.
Additionally, he chaired a leadership meeting for CARL interest
group chairs and members of the executive board.
Markel Tumlin,
Reference Librarian, is serving as the co-editor of the "Balance
Point" column in the journal Serials Review.
