Mission Statement

San Diego State University Library

The Library at San Diego State University is the main intellectual resource supporting the teaching, research, and service functions of the University. It strives to meet the needs of an everchanging world of information, technology, and users. To accomplish its mission, the Library aspires to the highest quality in service, instruction, collection, staff, and environment.

The Library supports the teaching function of the University by providing the information resources and services needed by undergraduate and graduate students in pursuit of their education. It cooperates with faculty in their goals of providing a high quality educational experience. The Library's collection is shaped by the range and level of courses offered, and is augmented by appropriate information delivery services.

The Library recognizes that its patrons are becoming more diverse in their backgrounds, interests, and methods of research. Diversity of patrons comes in many forms cultural, ethnic, age, gender, socioeconomic, and those with disabilities. To accommodate the needs of all patrons, this diversity must be reflected in the Library's services and the development of its information resources.
