The Giving Gaze
9/5/01 through 9/30/01
The Giving Gaze: an Intimate Topography of the Border is on display in the Donor Hall during September.
It is a series of photographs that depicts the dynamism of Tijuana and its surroundings and take viewers through
a journey of the migrant camps of Northern San Diego County. In addition, the images inspired a collection of
poems reflecting the experience of the border culture. This exhibit is the work of Professor Jose Rodolfo Jacobo
and student Manlio Cesar Correa. Poetry by faculty Mario Martin-Flores, translated into English by faculty Gustavo Segade.
This project was made possible with the support of the Center for Latin American Studies, the Spanish and Portuguese
Department, and the Library at San Diego State University. Click on any photo or photo filename to begin moving
