September 8, 2006 - February 28, 2007
Browsing Area and Donor Hall, Love Library
This exhibit celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of renowned children's author L. Frank Baum.
Baum, who frequently vacationed in San Diego, wrote many of his famous "Oz" books while staying at the Hotel del Coronado. The exhibit features a host of unique items from SDSU Library's Special Collections department, including inscribed first editions and popular sheet music. It also draws upon Special Collections' Hotel Del Coronado Collection, as well as the private collection of Baum's great-granddaugter, which until now has not been publicly exhibited.
