Adventures in Time and Space:
Greg Bear and the Science Fiction Legacy at San Diego State

Adventures in Time and Space is an exhibit honoring Greg Bear and the science fiction tradition at San Diego State University. Greg Bear is the 2006 Library and Information Access recipient of the Monty Award for distinguished alumni. He has published 26 short stories and 35 novels and has received both Hugo and Nebula awards, the leading honors for excellence in science fiction.

The exhibit features materials from the Elizabeth Chater Science Fiction Collection, which consists of over 3,000 volumes of science fiction and fantasy books and periodicals. A lifelong writer and enthusiast of the science fiction genre, Chater taught San Diego State University’s first science fiction course alongside Greg Bear who was her student at the time. A number of renowned science fiction writers who attended or taught classes at the university are also represented in the exhibit including Suzette Elgin, Harry Harrison, Joan D. Vinge and Vernor Vinge.
