Borrowing Privileges at the SDSU Library: A Quick Guide
Who is eligible to borrow books from the SDSU Library?
- SDSU faculty, staff, and students
- Extended Studies students
- Retired SDSU faculty and staff
- Current members of the SDSU Alumni Association
- Permanent employees of the SDSU Foundation
- Faculty from WASC-accredited institutions of higher learning (colleges and universities) in San Diego and Imperial Counties
- Holders of valid research affiliate or corporate borrower cards
- All CSU Faculty, staff, and students
- SDSU students not currently enrolled, but working on incompletes
- SDSU students on official leaves of absence
- SDSU campus clergy
- Other individuals as permitted by Library Administration and Circulation Services
Community Members
Community members (typically residents of San Diego or Imperial Counties), who are otherwise unaffiliated with SDSU, can apply for Research Affiliate or Guest Card privileges:
- Applications must be completed at the Circulation / Course Reserves Desk
- Applicants must agree to all Library policies and fees
- 28-day loan period for books
- $60 annual fee
- Must present picture ID when borrowing books
- Research Affiliates may borrow up to 5 books at a time
- No Interlibrary Loan or hold privileges are granted
- No remote access to online subscription resources
Corporations
Local businesses can apply for corporate borrower cards:
- Submit an application in writing on letterhead listing authorized users
- Applicants must accept financial responsibility for all materials borrowed on their cards
- $150 annual fee
- Up to 5 cards can be issued in any one corporate entity's name
- Authorized users must present corporate card and picture ID when borrowing books
- Corporate borrowers may borrow up to 5 books at a time
- 28-day loan period for books
- No interlibrary Loan or hold privileges are granted
- No remote access to online subscription resources
